Veteran actor Tushar Dalvi is a renowned face of Indian entertainment industry and needs no introduction. The actor has several television shows, films and plays to his credit and everyone is aware of his brilliant acting skills. The actor is all set to replace Abeer Soofi as Sai Baba in Sony TV show Mere Sai. While Abeer Soofi played the young Sai Baba in the show, Tushar will be seen playing the elder Sai Baba.

In an exclusive chat with India Forums, Tushar Dalvi shared with us about the big shoes he has to fill in, how he prepared for the role and more.

Speaking about stepping in the shoes of Sai Baba and comparisons with Abeer Soofi he said, “Well, I think I have to fill big shoes, yes, but not because of Abeer Soofi, but because of the personality and character of Sai Baba. I don’t want to take away the credit from Abeer, he did a wonderful job, no doubt about that and he has left a long lasting impression but having said that I think every actor has got his or her own style. I will do the role in my style.”

Speaking further about playing Sai Baba, he said, “The biggest challenge is the phenomenon of transforming into the character because Sai Baba is not an ancient phenomenon and the strong connect that people have with him is tremendous. My biggest task would be to justify his personality.”

When asked how difficult is it to portray Sai Baba’s calmness on screen and how did he prepare for the role, he said, “When I was approached for the role, I tried to get all the information that I could about his life. Luckily Shri Sai Charitra is available and has all the information on his life, so I read that.”
