What a year for TV! So far, 2016 has already given us a motherlode of great screen moments. This year’s prime Television reality shows came from all over the map.

While some were deserved hits, others were acclaimed artistic achievements discovered by crafty veterans.

As the year comes to an end, let’s take a look at the top reality shows of 2016!

Bigg Boss Season 10 on Colors: With the whole point of the reality shows to grab people’s attention for as long as it’s possible, sometimes the producer will have to cross a line or two. Endemol, by giving an insight view to the life of celebrities since 2006, Bigg Boss has made a huge impact on the common folks.

Year after year, the makers tried experimenting something new and season 10 had to be a grand one. For the first time, Bigg Boss opened its doors for commoners to live with starry celebrities under one roof!

So You Think You Can Dance on Zee TV: Another reality presentation by Endemol is So You Think You Can Dance, which roped in Rithvik Dhanjani and Mouni Roy as hosts with a jury of Madhuri Dixit, Terence Lewis, and Bosco Martis.

Competition based dance reality shows are a sub-category under reality shows and this crop has been growing year on year encouraging talents across various age groups.

Super Dancer on Sony TV: Sony TV came up with India’s first dance reality show Boogie Woogie hosted by Javed Jaffrey and created by Naved Jaffrey in 1996, which was an instant hit for the channel.

Watching different forms of dance has only been encouraged since then and Super Dancer gave a platform to talented kids in the age group of 4-13, who pit against each other in a competition, where they entertained everyone through their performances.

The Voice India Kids on &TV: The rising popularity of the Indian reality shows lies in the fact that these are short termed yet these present the perfect dose of entertainment. These shows give opportunities to the prodigies residing in the interiors of the country to showcase their talent.
India’s Got Talent -Season 7 on Colors: This show is loved and appreciated by all couch potatoes, who love and appreciate any form of talent and that’s what makes it a perfect weekender. What might have worked in favor of India’s Got Talent is its smart packaging and the eclectic mix of singing, dancing, drama, comedy, and art!
Khatron Ke Khiladi… Kabhi Peeda Kabhi Keeda Season 7 on Colors: Not only is the show a visual delight for the audience who have their favorite TV celebrities to perform daredevil stunts, but also for the people who are star struck with the B-Townies! The show roped in Bollywood actors/directors as hosts of the show for the fans to connect with them through an easier medium. The earlier season saw Arjun Kapoor as the host of’Khatron Ke Khiladi – Kabhi Peeda Kabhi Keeda’.
